What to do in Needham MA

If you are looking to reside in a suburb that’s brimming with rich history, birth place to several notable figures and has annual harvest fairs that bring to mind Stars Hollow on Gilmore Girls, Needham just might be your new home sweet home.

With a population of about 30,000, Needham is an ideal city to be in when you want to be an arm’s reach from Boston. Read on to discover just a few things we love about Needham, and what we are looking forward to this Fall!

Enjoy The Great Outdoors

Whether you like to hike, are a beginner, or just looking for a fun day outside with the family, Needham Town Forest is your haven. Filled with 200 acres bursting with biking trails, ponds, and even rock climbing, the Town Forest is built for whatever you’re comfortable with in the Great Outdoors. Just don’t forget your bug spray and sunscreen!

If Fido is in tow, head over to the Needham Dog Park. Off Pine Street on the Dover border, this dog park has designated sections whether your pooch is big or small, and is a fantastic, community-run space for your dogs to get their exercise!

Another gem in Needham for those looking to get in touch with nature is the Charles River Peninsula. Intimate, coming in at 30 acres, this peninsula has an interesting, narrow footpath that tracks the river along the reservation’s shoreline, while the field’s highest point offers views of the Charles River. An old wooden railroad trestle is visible at the western end of the Reservation. Perfect for a post-lunch date or a quick jog.

Celebrate

As I mentioned, Needham loves the holidays! Each October, we begin celebrating as we anticipate the most wonderful time of the year with our Harvest Fair. Carve pumpkins, bob for apples, ride a pony, the Harvest Fair puts on a fantastic month-long festival for everyone to enjoy in Needham.

If you have little ones looking to get spooky, they will love Needham’s annual Spooky Walk. Designed for youngsters’ age 2 to 8, the Spooky Walk invites all the princesses, ghouls and whatever else the kids dream up, to trick or treat in town at the local shops.
On December 3rd, the year-long wait is finally over for the annual Holiday Stroll and blue tree lighting. Great for families, dates, and everything in between, this weekend is just what you need to get into the holiday spirit.

And, this is just the beginning! So much to discover in Needham, so little time.
